What’s Included in a Full House Repaint

A full house repaint with Cambridge Decorators covers every surface and room agreed in the quote, managed as a single project from start to finish.

Thorough Surface Preparation

Filling, sanding, priming, and stabilising loose plaster before any finish coat goes on. Cambridge’s Victorian and Edwardian properties typically need more preparation than modern builds — we factor this in from the quotation stage.

All Painted Surfaces Completed

Walls, ceilings, woodwork, skirting boards, architraves, window frames, and doors. Every surface included in the quote is finished.

Interior and Exterior in Sequence

Interior first, so fresh paint is not exposed to scaffold dust. Access equipment goes up once and comes down once. The sequence is planned before we start.

Whole-House Palette Consultation

Colours planned room by room so the house reads as one considered scheme. We advise on interior painting colour choices including Farrow and Ball and Little Greene. No separate charge.

Single Project Management

One point of contact, one quote, one final walkthrough. You deal with the same team from survey to sign-off. See our exterior painting page for standalone exterior work.

Thorough Preparation Comes First

We fill cracks and nail holes, sand back flaking paint, spot-prime bare patches, and stabilise any loose plaster. Cambridge’s Victorian and Edwardian properties typically need more preparation than modern builds. We factor this in from the quotation stage.

Interior Before Exterior

Interior first. Exterior second. This protects freshly painted internal surfaces from scaffold dust and weather. The sequence is planned before we start, not improvised as we go.

One Team, One Contact Throughout

You deal with one point of contact throughout. One quote that covers everything. One final walkthrough where everything is checked together before we leave.

Period Features Treated with Care

Cornicing, ceiling roses, and decorative plasterwork are masked carefully before painting begins. Sash windows are painted in the open position so they still slide freely once paint has cured.

How a Full House Repaint Works

1. Initial Consultation and Walkthrough

We visit the property and walk every room and surface with you, noting ceiling heights, plasterwork condition, and period features. Colour consultation happens here — no separate charge.

2. Written Quote Covering All Rooms

You receive a clear, itemised quote. Every room and surface is agreed in writing before we start. No surprises mid-project.

3. Sequence Planning

We plan the order of rooms around your daily routine. For occupied properties we typically start at the top of the house and work downwards, completing each floor before moving to the next.

4. Preparation Phase

All filling, sanding, and priming happens before a drop of finish coat goes on. This phase takes longer than most clients expect — it is the reason a professionally painted room looks different from a DIY job five years later.

5. Painting Phase

Systematic, room by room. Each room is completed, inspected, and signed off before we move to the next. Two or more finish coats on all surfaces, depending on the paint system.

6. Final Inspection and Sign-Off

We walk the full property with you at the end. Anything that does not meet the standard is addressed before we leave.
